The deadline is May 15, 2022 – more information about entering the contest can be found below.
The competition has been organized since 2014, in collaboration with publishers and agencies from England, Germany, and South Africa, with the aim of discovering, encouraging, and providing a stage for new talent.
THIS IS HOW YOU PARTICIPATE

The guidelines and regulations are as follows:
Submit your three best illustrations. The illustrations should tell a story together. That story can be both existing and invented.
The maximum size of the images is A3, the resolution must be at least 150 dpi and the maximum size per file is 600 KB.
Also, send (in a Word file) the texts that go with the illustrations and a short summary of the story (no more than 250 words).
You are free to choose your techniques and materials.
You may only enter the competition if you have not yet published a picture book with a professional publisher. If you already have educational books to your name or other genres (such as anthology illustrations, adult fiction, or book covers).
Illustrators from countries other than Great Britain, South Africa, Germany and the Netherlands and Belgium may also enter the competition and upload their entry via the country of their choice page on this website. To ensure that communication with the jury members runs as smoothly as possible, we ask that you submit your texts in English.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS AFTER
A professional jury selects three winners from each country. The twelve winners will be announced on this website.
The winners will be notified by email. Their work will be part of a traveling exhibition , which will be exhibited at various locations in the participating countries. The final selection will be published in an international catalog and presented to all major children’s book publishers at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. This gives the artists a unique opportunity to bring their work to the attention of potential publishers.
