18th annual GIRAF festival

Submissions to the 18th annual GIRAF festival are open from February 1 through May 31, 2022.

GIRAF is a celebration of independent animation, a showcase of the best of what’s being made here in Canada and around the world. Each year, we scour the globe for the most astounding, inventive, beautiful, mind-altering and unexpected animated films out there.

For our 17th festival, we’ve gone nation-wide, bringing nearly 90 short films to audiences across Canada, on demand from November 19-28. Join us for a stellar assortment of films, plus artist talks, panel discussions, and a newly scanned version of an under-seen classic. Welcome to GIRAF.
