Grand Paris Express

The Grand Paris Express is the name for a group of new and extended transit lines being built in the Île-de-France region of Paris.
An international call for projects is now being launched for the creation of permanent frescos on the platforms of the Grand Paris Express train stations: one artist per train station will be entrusted with illustrations representing the local territory, having a hand in the development of the Grand Paris’ artistic heritage for decades to come. They will enrich the signage of the train stations, imagined by the designer Ruedi Baur, and the train stations’ urban furniture imagined by Patrick Jouin.
30 train stations are concerned by this first call for applications, which is open to professional artists and authors from the fields of comics, illustration, animation and graphic design. The announcement of the laureates as well as the allocation of the train stations is planned for January 2022. In order to enable the laureates to better discover the territory allocated to them and to perfect their project, an on-site five-day residency will be programmed.
Travel and accommodation will be taken care of by the Société du Grand Paris, and a work place provided. Selected artists will receive a fee of 5000€ for their draft proposal, and a further 10,000€ on completion of the final commission.
